Week 8: Box Modelling and Retopology Hello everyone, This week we've been assigned to create our first 3D object and in order to do that the image reference for that is a "key", fun right? (after the key poses from the animation principles.. get it now?) In the brief and during the meeting we followed an intense hour of modelling on Maya, our tutor showed us how to import an image reference into the softwere and start to blocking out the shape in order to get the final result.

This is the rendered version of my key from Kingdom Hearts.

In order to elaborate this key I needed a tecnical image reference to work on so I just surfeced on the web to find the right one, if I didn't find it I had to draw it by myself, not a problem for me but I get lucky.

I'm sorry if I didn't showed all the process step by step by I kinda of rushed the process in order to delivery a final result asap. Basically what I did it was follow the tutorial from the brief and take a similar approach for my different key like, blocking out the main shape for the handle, beveling and extruding and so on, then I focused on the main part of the key, let's call it the stuff, and then I take care of the tooth part, after that I made the last adjustments to make it similar as possible from the reference and the last part I just set up a little scene with the 3 lightning point, a camera, a simple material and rendered the current frame. I hope you like the end result, it was fun.
